This month we talked all about what the Artist Voice means to our users. We also got to chat with some incredible artists. People like Abstract, Ian Oshér, & STORRY. Each person had their own, unique perspective on the Artist Voice. But Artist Republik is so much more than just a few artists. We are a community of people who have their philosophies behind their voices. Throughout the month we posted across social media to get input from YOU. Below are some of the best examples of the Artist Voice from our family at Artist Republik:
“Talking about suicide” (and of course the issues associated with mental health).
This is such an important topic for artists to get behind. In a world where mental health has become a huge topic, the people that influence the masses should be talking about it! Artists who embrace the topic of mental health and suicide tend to have very large followings. Many of those same artists struggle with the topic they write about. This gives their lyrics a very organic feel. Being open about the concept of mental health has been on the rise, and for good reason.
“Serving music with a concept.”
This one is a little less on-the-head but it still works in many ways. When an artist makes their music, it’s important to base your ideas around a concept. What is that concept, though? That’s for you to figure out. Maybe your concept has to do with something you’ve experienced in life. Or perhaps it has more to do with what interests you. The sky is the limit. But we notice that artists who have a baseline concept for their art tend to have a lot deeper connection with their fans.
“Practicing singing and writing songs.”
Practice makes perfect! Some of the most successful artists were practicing years before they hit the scene. No matter what you do as an artist, whether that be singing, songwriting, or producing, it’s important to always maintain a proper balance of practice in your daily routine. The more you practice, the better you will be at your craft.
What is our perspective?
The team at Artist Republik believes that the Artist Voice is simply what you make of it. Your voice is the cornerstone of your career. The voice you have also impacts your brand & sound in a variety of ways. If you are an artist trying to figure out what your voice is, consider the following questions:
- What do you stand for?
- Which message do you want to convey to your audience?
- What fuels/motivates you?
- How do you want to be seen?
Of course, there are many other options to consider, but hopefully, this gives you a good start!
That is the Artist Voice
